GUM TRAGACANTH
A dried gummy exudation which exudes either naturally or from wounds in various species of Western Asiatic leguminosae of the genus "Astragalus". It is partially soluble in water, in which it swells to mucilage. Gum Tragacanth is an excellent protective colloid, a thickening and stabilizing agent for emulsions and dispersions.
